Social Bookmarking - Essential Ways to Earn Money With Social Bookmarking

December 20th, 2007 Rob Posted in Social Bookmarking No Comments »

Generally, the social bookmarking process involves putting a mark on a site that you find very useful. This mark then gets to be a list of all ‘marked’ sites. This list becomes accessible to all having the same interest or at least find it interesting. With this whole concept, it’s clearly visible how social bookmarking is used to earn money via advertisement or marketing. The question now is, how effective does your social bookmark list is? I’ve enlisted few tips that you can use to ensure efficient social bookmarking.

* Make your bookmarking crawl. The whole idea  is very simple. When an actual person who visited your site socially bookmarked your site, it means that your site is open to all. The tendency then for other people who visit other sites where your site is socially linked, the higher the chance that your site will then be bookmarked by other visitors. By this, your site continues crawl with the other sites.

* Make your visitors repetitively visit your site. Of course, no matter how few these visitors are, if they visit your site time & time again, traffic with your site is inevitable. To drive them from coming back, make certain you give them all the reasons to. Give them the material they want. Write good & bookmarking is at hand.

* Utilize other resources like submitting your site to another list of social bookmarks. Well, at least, you can be assured that your site continues to be connected with other sites by means of this.

* Track & monitor the progress of your site’s bookmark rank. This is ensuring that your site continues to expand its being socially bookmarked. Now, if in any case that it’s not progressing, at least you know what to do.

Social Bookmarking - Fast Social Bookmarking

The latest method to receive one way back links today is through social bookmarking. With social bookmarking, a web service is used where you create a public repository of bookmarks to sites that you like.

This is a concept that started in 1996 with the launch of itList.com & has today become popular with the advent of the most popular social bookmarking site till date, del.icio.us.

To use social bookmarking, you have to sign up for an account & post your URLs. Each posting needs a URL, a title for the text, a short description & the tags for bookmarking your link. So use completely unique tags on your webpage for identification purposes. Clear? Identical tags are connected together so that the same tag is used for similar web pages & images.

Social bookmarking services provide you with bookmarks; save these bookmarks to electronic resources using a web browser for better social bookmarking. You find that if you classify, index or categorize your bookmarks, using user-defined tags, you’re sure to do better in social bookmarking. Joining a social networking site, & sharing your bookmarks publicly or with other members interested in the same product will bring better results to your social bookmarking. It’s important to do some research when using social bookmarking by searching for other users having similar interests & resources tagged to your resources.

Make periodical checks on the popularity of a resource by finding out how many people had bookmarked it; this helps you decide if you’re using the right tags for social bookmarking. Syndication of resources links using RSS is also a good idea  to improve your social bookmarking which in turn improves the ranking of your website to give you a better page rank.

All About Stumble Upon, Stumbling & Stumblers

December 10th, 2007 Rob Posted in Social Bookmarking No Comments »

StumbleUpon.com (SU) is a social bookmarking network consisting of over 3 million users or ’stumblers’ each of whom use the StumbleUpon toolbar to find & review web pages, viral videos, on line photographs & more. The StumbleUpon algorithm then learns what you like & then let us you channel surf the Internet to recommend & display to the stumbler similar sites. So… StumbleUpon can be a great source of traffic to a webmaster. To obtain traffic from stumble, you first need to sign up & install the SU toolbar for either the Internet Explorer or Firefox Internet browser. SU will then ask you for your interests.

One recommendation I make is to upload an eye catching photograph to your profile. This photo will do a lot to attract stumblers to your profile. Next, join some of the StumbleUpon groups to find Stumblers with similar interests as yours. If you upload a photo to your profile, that picture will show up on the group page for all the groups you have joined.

You then want to add friends based closely on your interests & region. SU will show you similar stumblers based closely on your interests. Add as many friends as possible, but keep in mind that StumbleUpon currently has a maximum of 200 friends. StumbleUpon also currently allows each user only one account unless the Stumbler received expressed written permission from StumbleUpon.

Next, start exploring the StumbleUpon toolbar options. Clear? If you click the SU button, you’ll begin to channel surf web pages based closely on your interests. If you like it, click the thumbs-up ‘I like it!’ button & SU will make note of that… If you do not like the website, click the thumbs-down button & SU will not longer show you web pages related to that site

Finally, you may want to submit one or two of your pages to SU. Go to your website & click the I like it button. If your page has not actually been previously submitted to SU, a pop-up box will be displayed alerting you that you have found a new site & SU will request more information about the site including a title, a review, topic & tags. It’s very important to select the correct topic & tags for your site as this information will be used to determine whether your site will be displayed to stumblers who are actually interested in your site’s topic.

The Difference Between Social And Business Bookmarking

November 25th, 2007 Rob Posted in Social Bookmarking No Comments »

Social Bookmarking has been a byword in the Internet realm today, & is the term referred for the way internet users store, classify, share & search Internet bookmarks.

In a social bookmarking network, users catalogue & store lists of Internet resources that they find useful. These lists can be made accessible to the public by users of a specific network or website & other web users with the same interests can view the links by topic, category, tags, or randomly. Some how ever, allow for privacy or on a per-bookmark basis.

Users can also categorize their resources by utilizing informally assigned, user-defined keywords or tags. Most social bookmarking networks, like wirefan.com & conbuzz.com, allow users to search for bookmarks which are assigned with given “tags”, & the resources are ranked by the number of users which have already bookmarked them.

Many social bookmarking services also have implemented algorithms to draw connections from the tag keywords that are assigned to resources by analyzing the clustering of particular keywords, & the relation of those keywords to one another. Aside from allowing only web page bookmarks, services specialized to a specific subject or format, such as feeds, books, videos, music, fashion apparel, cosmetics, cameras, etc could also be found.

In addition, there’s an interesting sidebit to the information or bookmarking business, which is business Information, & most of it lies hidden away without too much scrutiny since the tedious nature of business transaction & information processing would mean that it will not interest too many people either. You may call it boring, but on the other hand, if you look at the bigwigs in the technology industry,a large part of their business comes from other businesses.

So, lastly, is there a definite analogy to social bookmarking that makes sense for businesses?. There definitely is. The key to social bookmarking is that it effectively harnesses the conventional wisdom of customers to bring order & organization to the problems of overwhelming content.

The same technique solves a key problem for businesses; how do they implement knowledge management, by helping contribute key insights & knowledge across the organization? Most large organizations have very diverse amounts of expertise on hand, however these remain underutilized because no one knows that it’s available. However, unlike personal or entertainment oriented data, business content is often confidential or proprietary, & so there is a need for appropriate protection measures, i.e copyright, patent issues.

5 Tips For Getting Traffic To Your Site With Social Bookmarking

November 20th, 2007 Rob Posted in Social Bookmarking No Comments »

Social bookmarking sites are a great way to direct traffic to your website or blog. They’ve been around for a couple of years, & we are all still trying to figure out ways to use them. There’re a few sure-fire ways to use them to direct traffic to your site. Here are some simple tips.

1. Find The Right Social Bookmarking Site For You. Some social bookmarking sites have a little bit of everything, but some are tailored to a certain market. By example, there’re quite a few that are tech-oriented. You weight-loss website will not get a very high ranking there. Others are oriented toward entertainment, news or sports.

The most popular social bookmarking sites, like del.icio.us & Stumble Upon, are popular partly because they have a bit of everything. The users on these sites are a diverse group, so pretty much any niche will fly.

2. Add Only Quality Content. This may be a no-brainer, but it is something to consider. Social bookmarking sites are driven by human beings. If you post anything useless, irrelevant or dull, your links will be ignored. On some sights, spamming will get you kicked off.

People on social bookmarking sites are searching for stuff that is interesting, useful & a little bit unique. Keep in mind that if nobody is interested in your site, you will not get votes or rankings, & all those links will not get you any traffic. With social bookmarking, random keyword-stuffed content will not work.

3. Choose The Right Tags. Make sure that your content comes up when people are searching for it… You can never have too many tags, & with each different social bookmarking site you may have to experiment to see what works & what doesn’t.

Of course, you should also make certain that your content has all the keywords in the right places. But, remember what we said before: No incoherent keyword-stuffed nonsense!

4. Keep Your Website Up-To-Date. These sites like stuff that is new, the newer the better… Social bookmarking works best for blogs & websites that are constantly updating. Users are searching for the very latest news. Keep your site fresh & it will keep ranking high on these sites & getting you the traffic you are looking for.

5. Promote Links Other Than Your Own. The key is to be social. Don’t just have your own links bookmarked on your site. Look for good, relevant information about your niche from other sites too. This way, your profile becomes a one-stop information center about the topic. This will raise your rankings & establish you as a real expert in your chosen field, & you will see lots more traffic as a result of it.

social bookmarking is still on the rise, with about 75 sites, & it is growing everyday. Why not use social bookmarking to get traffic to your site?

How to Sell on Social Bookmarking Sites without Looking Like It

November 15th, 2007 Rob Posted in Social Bookmarking No Comments »

You may already have understood how effective social bookmaking is for your website. If you’re able to promote your products & services in a variety of social bookmarking sites, more sales will also be generated which will provide you with enormous sums of commission.

However, search engines & other social bookmarking sites ensure that you limit your promotions only or else your ranking will also lose its grip in terms of visibility. It also doesn’t seem appropriate if you keep on tagging every site on sight & will make potential buyers think twice or two times about you… You have to be discreet in advertising your goods. Clear? It’s possible to sell on a lot of social bookmarking sites without looking like it.

1. Register appropriately. It’s recommended that you register ® with a maximum of three social bookmarking sites. There is more. These sites will provide you with the tools & functions to keep bookmarks & add tags as public or private. Of course, public bookmarks will be your main focus as you have to approach your target market & drive them toward your website. Choose the three best sites that support your business & start tagging only in these.

2. Find help. It’s possible to bookmark & tag your website in more than three bookmarking sites. Clear? Instead of you doing all the tagging & risking being detected by search engines, you can find help from other people to tag your website. You may ask friends, business contacts & visiting browsers to bookmark your site publicly. This will make your website appear more appealing & professional.

3. Network. One of the advantages of social bookmarking is that it allows people with the same interests to find one another. Since information is arranged according to how users perceive its functionality & relevance, it’s possible that your website will be bookmarked again & again by the network you are best catering to. To achieve this, your website must target the people or market belonging in the same network category & the pages must contain useful & direct to the point information to make it as functional & relevant as possible.

4. Quality not quantity. Instead of putting up many bookmarks in various websites, you can improve a lot in the content of your website so that it will generate more hits & easily be easily found by your target market. The key is to use readable & real headlines or titles, using the right keywords most likely to be used by web browsers & fixing your tags & web address in a way that the names will be connected to searches made. The quality of the content from the start to the end must suffice the needs of the browser with the goal of being bookmarked.

In marketing, it’s always better to lure your target market instead of appearing like an on line solicitor. Choose the right strategies that will give your clients enough space to make choices as well as enough guidance to letting them make a purchase or get a subscription.
