Article Marketing - Creating Titles That Get Your Articles Read More Often & Picked Up More Often

December 20th, 2007 Rob Posted in Article Marketing No Comments »

Article writing is different than many other types of writing. Writing for the internet is different than writing for anything else because the search engines, when somebody types in ‘article writing’ or ‘article marketing’ to the search engines, the search engine spiders ? that is what they arecalled, the little electronic whatever it’s they send out to read all the different websites out there ? read just like Americans do, left to right, top to bottom.

So when they come to a title that says ‘7 Products You Can Create With Your Articles,’ they do not read past the first four words of that title unless there’re keywords in there.

So I would change this title into ? ‘Article Marketing & Income ? 7 Products You Can Create With Your Articles.’ I will say it again: ‘Article Marketing & Income ? 7 Products You Can Create With Your Articles’

Now every part of that title is there for a reason, & I will take you from the obvious to the not-so-obvious.

The obvious part is, of course, article marketing is going to be in the front. The rule is do not waste your first four words. Use keywords in your first four words. So… So I have used ‘article marketing’ & also ‘income.’ ‘Article Marketing & Income ? 7 Products You Can Create With Your Articles’ Now if you can find a way for your title to end with your keyword, it will get picked up more often. At least use your keyword again in the title.

Make sure there’re benefits in your article title a well. “7 Products You Can Create” ? there’s the benefit.

So the title becomes ‘Article Marketing & Income ? 7 Products You Can Create With Your Articles.’

Let’s boil it down to a simple formula - Key words - Benefit(s) - Key words.

So first of all, I encourage you to use these tips & strategies when you create titles for your articles.

Are You Making These 3 Stupid Mistakes With Your Article Marketing?

December 4th, 2007 Rob Posted in Article Marketing No Comments »

Let us look at why article marketing is so popular at the moment. Prospects hate to be sold. By providing good solid content you can provide valuable information without the prospect realizing that you’re actually selling to them. This creates credibility & trust for you as you’ll be seen as a real expert in the niche that you focus on.

Some benefits of article marketing is that your content will primarily be viral in nature & they will be published on many other websites. There is more. They also help to improve your link popularity for your website & your search engine rankings.

Mistake 1 - Writing Your Article For The Wrong Reason Often because you’re in a hurry to write an article to gain brand recognition, backlinks & build an opt in list you’ll write an article in a hurry. The primary reason for writing an article is to get it read & for it to be informative. If the article doesn’t offer significant value people are unlikely to click through to your website in your bio & publish it on their websites.

Mistake 2 - Writing Your Article Without A Strategy

There are two main reasons that you’ll write an article. They are writing to brand yourself as a real expert & also writing to build an opt in list. You need to decide what’s your primary objective. And so… So far so good. Writing an article for creating expert recognition will mean demonstrating your expert knowledge. This will make your articles viral as people publish it… However, it may not actually be that successful for building an opt in list. OK. So you have to decide if you’re writing your article to build an opt in list or create your brand on the internet.

Mistake 3- Not Taking Advantage Of The Free Search Engine Traffic Often people will write an informative article that will generate some visitors when the article has been approved. However, once other articles are approved in the same category your article will no longer display on the list of recently approved articles in that specific category. So you’ll no longer get traffic if you do not optimize your article for keywords that are searched on by search engines.

Article Marketing - A Free Tool to Level the Playing Field So You Can Play with the Big Boys & Girls

November 30th, 2007 Rob Posted in Article Marketing No Comments »

The biggest mistake I see brand new article marketers & internet marketers make is to assume they know what their ideal client wants.

I see even experienced people making this mistake. People will spend weeks, months & sometimes years developing a product only to discover that they were the only person that wanted it.

If you would like to do better than 95% of the article marketers & internet marketers online, all you have to do is consistently ask just 2 questions -

1. What is your most important question about (fill in the blank)? - Do not assume you know the answer. Even if you’re a deep expert in your field. Even if you’re one of your own ideal clients. Ask them.

The asking can take many forms - what’s your biggest struggle with? - what’s your most burning question about? - what do you most want to know about?

You will gain valuable information from your list with these questions. There is more. Then when you provide answers to these questions & create products that answer these questions & solve these problems, you’ll look brilliant in the eyes of your customers.

In the words of Chicken Soup for the Soul co-author Mark Victor Hansen - “You have to A-S-K to G-E-T.”

After you have discovered what it’s your customers & list members want to know, the next question to ask is

2. How would you most like this information delivered? - Just like you should not assume you know what your customers want to know, you also should not assume you know how they want it delivered.

Ask them & give them choices. Do they most want it in written form or in audio form? If in audio form, do they most want it in a CD or an mp3 or an 8-track tape? Just kidding - wanted to see if you were paying attention!

So ask what they want to know & how they want it delivered. Then give it to them.

Advanced Ways to Article Marketing

November 22nd, 2007 Rob Posted in Article Marketing No Comments »

Targeted article marketing is one marketing practice that may help you promote your site among Internet users. Done right, it can be a very important weapon to help your website stay competitive among the most popular websites around.

Advanced ways to conduct targeted article marketing:

1. Know your on line audience so you’ll know what their needs & wants are. This helps you conduct targeted article marketing.

2. Orient the articles you create towards the needs & wants of your target audience. And so… Supplying articles nobody is interested in is a waste of time for everybody (including you.).

3. Keep writing regularly to stay in practice. This will improve your writing skills.

4. Write if the topics really interest you personally. The job should be something you enjoy.

5. If you’re not a superlative writer, then hire some one with wonderful writing skills whom you can trust to be dependable. The writer should understand what you’re trying to achieve.

6. Use language that the average person can understand. Writing for geniuses may alienate you from the Internet masses, unless you want only people with high IQs to read your articles.

7. Do promote your product or service in some of your articles but do not let these hog the content of all the articles. For one thing, it becomes monotonous. You may also appear too desperate to get people to buy your product & service so play it low key.

8. Be aware that the format & design of your article is also important, for aesthetic reasons.

9. Offering references for the information you provide in your articles is an additional service that your readers will appreciate. This may be in the form of links or footnotes.

10. Contact article directories & post your articles on them. Some article directories may even pay you for the privilege of getting your articles.

Targeted article marketing is easier than you may have thought before. And so… Stay on your toes & eventually your targeted article marketing will reap your desired results.

Article Marketing - How Many Must I Write?

November 18th, 2007 Rob Posted in Article Marketing No Comments »

There is a lot of talk about article marketing as an effective strategy to bring traffic to your blog or website for free. However, there is often debate about just how many articles it takes to work.

Here are some suggestions to clear up the confusion.

The more the merrier. This is the simple answer to the quantity question. Article marketing is a numbers game. The more individual articles that you have out there, the more chances you have that some one interested in your niche will find it, read it & click on your link. So if you’re able to produce ten thousand articles, you’ll be doing better than the guy who only submits three in a year.

Christopher Knight, operator of EzineArticles.com, the largest free article directory on the web, says that just a few articles can bring traffic, but that the real flow starts to be felt when you get to around 250.

However, like all debates there’re some provisos to that… It is not just about quantity. Naturally, no two articles are equal. The very fact that an article has been written & submitted doesn’t mean that it will automatically bring a set number of clicks.

The four key factors that determine the effectiveness of any article are :

  • The niche - some niches generate more interest than others. Making money will always do better than slug farming.
  • The length - long, densely worded articles are less likely to be widely distributed than, short, snappy, bulleted pieces.
  • The quality - a well written & relevant article will gain wider distribution & will probably be read more, which in turn will lead to more click throughs.
  • The resource box - a badly written resource box can ruin a good article’s chances of bringing traffic.

Finally, when considering how many articles you should write, you have to take into account your ability & the available time. If you can only fit in your writing late at night or at the weekends, then you’re better to produce two or three, well targeted, quality articles per week & build your portfolio steadily, than attempt to create ten, sub standard pieces that will not get picked up. So in conclusion, yes, article marketing is a numbers game, but do not worry if you have not got an article factory in your basement. A very good writer who conforms to the rules can still beat a prolific hack any day.

Top 10 Reasons Why Article Marketing is Perfect for Book Marketing

November 14th, 2007 Rob Posted in Article Marketing No Comments »

If you can write a book, you can also write an article that showcases some of the how to’s in your book. Online prospects search for free articles on article directories & top-rated web sites that offer the same. And so… So far so good. When you write & submit articles on a regular basis, you’ll become known as the savvy expert in your field. That is gold because happy :) readers will then go straight to your web site to see your book & other offerings.

Top 10 Reasons

1. You attract your best, targeted audience. It is one thing to write health articles, but when you get more specific such as writing an article focused on treating & healing diabetes, that audience will see you as having the knowledge they need.

2. Your article reader will visit your web site. That’s what you want–to build your daily visitor numbers. And, for best results you will need to offer a sales letter for each book or book package you sell.

3. Published articles in top ranked web sites expose your information to many more people than just any old site. And so… So, be sure to check a web site’s Google or Alexa ratings, & submit to the top ones first before the rest.

4. Promoting your book also showcases your service. If you’re a coach, solo professional, or other small business your book & articles will attract all the clients you want.

5. Article marketing is easy for the non-techie who wants to use the internet, but does not have sales copywriting expertise or web design knowledge.

6. Like your book’s chapters, articles have a beginning, middle & end. You need to hook your readers the first sentence. Mention the problem, then in the middle part solve it for them.

7. Articles educate–that’s what your potential book buyer wants. So… So impressed with this kind of on line publicity, your buyers will have enough solid information, they can make a decision to buy easily!

8. When other publications publish your article, it is like an endorsement of you… Subscribers trust the ezine owners & will trust you too.

9. The more your articles are seen & read, the more credibility. People who are looking want to trust you & will over time. That’s why article marketing brings long-term results.

10. Writing & submitting articles does not cost much. The only money you spend is if you delegate them to an assistant. And that investment brings at least 10X its cost. If you do not think marketing as an investment, you’re missing out big time on your well-deserved profits.

Your book brands you & your business. Be sure to leverage it to bring big profits with article promotion.

How To Write Articles That Draw Traffic To Your Website

November 10th, 2007 Rob Posted in Article Marketing No Comments »

By now you have probably read that article marketing is a fantastic method by which to draw traffic to your site. The preceding statement is very true. However, there’re some techniques to use, which can ensure that this method truly delivers the web traffic to your site that you’re searching for. Here is my checklist of things to do when article marketing for web traffic.

1. Target Your Audience. And so… Sounds pretty basic & it is. You just need to keep in mind to whom you’re writing for & how you can assist provide to them the information they’re seeking.

2. Use headlines that grab readers’ attention. This is a pretty big important “to do” thing because the headline is how you’re going to persuade the reader to actually read your article. Make sure you use headlines that offer a benefit to the reader for actually reading your article.

3. Be succinct. The articles you submit should be around 400-500 words in length. Any more takes too much time for the amount of articles that you really need to write & more than that the reader probably will not make it to the end of the article any way & then she will not even get to your resource box (which we will talk about in a minute).

4. Outline the problem. Then give your position on it… This goes along with the succinct suggestion. Don’t “beat around the bush” in these articles. Brevity with efficient delivery of information is golden.

5. Use Your Keywords. Right. When developing your article, make certain you use the keywords that you’re promoting for your site. It would be great to use your main keyword phrase in the title of the article as well as 2-3 more times within the article. Always in the proper context of course.

6. Conclude Your Article. And so… Specifically state why this article & the points you addressed are important to whatever topic or problem or solution that you have written about.

7. Perfect Your Resource Box. I bolded & italicized this because it’s the most significant task in article marketing. Do you follow? To get a reader to view your resource box & then click to visit your website is the sole reason you wrote the article in the first place! So, how do you get the reader to click your link? Here are a few tips that will improve your chances of getting visits via the resource box:

8. Treat the resource box like an advertisement, which it is! So, with this in mind bring out your best copywriting skills to draw the interest of the reader.

9. Make sure there is a benefit listed in your resource box available to the reader if she visits your website. “For your free sample valued at $15, please go to…” would be an example. Just keep in mind that your resource box is the reason for writing the article, the actual article itself is the mechanism that delivers that next potential customer.

Is Article Marketing The Best SEO Method?

November 6th, 2007 Rob Posted in Article Marketing No Comments »

Why use article marketing & not some other kind of marketing? To answer this questions we need to list first the types of on line marketing that are popular today, then we will be easily able to compare results & will find out in what case article marketing works better than any other kind of marketing.

Let’s start with article marketing itself… First, what kind of investment you really need to do? You’ll need to write an article for submission purpose & you’ll need to submit it to 100+ web-sites or just to few major ones. There is more. The costs for copywriting service start at 10$ per 500 words & depend a lot on quality of the article. As for submission you can do it yourself or find really cheap options, for instance you can submit to bulk sites for just 10$. What about results? You’ll have an article listed on hundred of sites, that tells about your niche, & you’ll have a link which points to your site. There’re good chances that Google will treat this page & the link as useful. As link comes from article which is related to your web-site topic.

What about other methods. Right. What about directory submission? There’re a number of directories available, & it’s quite easy to submit your site to 100+ directories with high PR. You’ll be easily able to specify submission title (e.g. anchor text for you link), your description & your link. Good news is that it will not cost much to submit your web-site to directories starting with PR4 Google rating. But let us think about content where your link will be listed. If you’re submitting business management related web-site, then you should carefully select a category to place your link, the perfect would be “Business > Management”, but there will be also a lot of other links. There is more. There is no guaranty that Google will treat these links & their description as related to your niche. But directories submission works now fine, it is a cheaper option (or addition) to article marketing.

There are also a number of methods. For instance, it’s talked widely, that you should take part in forums for your topic. This is a great idea, but it will cost you much more time to find & answer questions in forums. Also, if you would like to hire some one to answer posts in forum you’ll have to pay much more than in the case of article marketing or directory submission.

Any other options? Actually, yes. You can run a free link exchange with sites & get inbound links, but in this case you’ll need to invest your time in finding sites, that are willing to exchange links with you, also, you’ll have to put a link back to this site. An option might be purchasing inbound links, it’s easier to find sites that will place your link for some fee, but typically you’ll need to pay for a link each month, that isn’t a good investment I think, unless you have found a very good sites related to your product’s niche.

The best idea  about article marketing is that is is measurable, you’ll easily find out what works & what does not work. It’s a good long-term investment in your on line visibility.

Article Marketing As Search Engine Friendly Strategy

November 3rd, 2007 Rob Posted in Article Marketing No Comments »

A business company can provide content to the newspaper or magazine free of charge & get its contact information printed with the article. This paper-print form of article marketing enables firms to obtain press space.

Even more beneficial form providing publishers with free content & advertisers with free advertising is on line article marketing. Article marketing campaigns serve to promote business sites. Free distribution of well-written interesting & informative articles with “bio boxes” & “by-lines” incorporating references & contact information can seriously contribute to enhancing the business credibility & gaining targeted customers.

Online article marketing is considered an effective internet marketing strategy due to the fact that content articles present an unbeatable way of generating links & boosting the search engine rankings. Clear? In other words the concern of this type of marketing is the use of articles for search engine optimization purposes. There is more. The task of attracting a great number of site visitors results in the attempts to make a page rank higher. This can be done by means of on-line distribution of articles which usually contain numerous links to a business owner’s web site. Visitors read through the article, get interested in the subject & click on the link which is placed for them to find out more information. This sends visitors directly to a business web site.

Text links use keywords which are most important to the web site business. There is more. These links are valuable to the business in the search engines because the words used to link to the site are read & referenced as important factors in determining the site rank & positioning in the search engines for particular key words. Right. With major search engines well-linked pages have more value. Incoming links are regarded as votes of confidence which rank a page higher. The higher the rank of a page, the more traffic oftentimes it has, & consequently the more likely it will increase the website’s rank within search engines. Many web site owners attempt to set up trade links with other businesses or even hire special firms to make inquiries to related sites for incoming links.

Much of a business success depends on the circulation of the article on the internet when it comes to providing traffic direct to the web site. As search engines identify the article on other sites, they credit a business site with links. There is more. The more articles published, the higher is the site’s search engine ranking.

Submitting articles to directories such as other web sites, blogs or on-line magazines (ezines) is one of the ways to generate thousands of backlinks to a business web site. The revenue of such ezines is based closely on targeted search ads to web site visitors. Many of the ezines are published on a regulated basis (weekly, biweekly or monthly) providing free access to their content.

Skillfully written content articles can bring positive long term effect & foster the growth of a web site business. There is more. The benefits of on-line article marketing are increased site traffic, improved search engine rank & lead generation.
